Profession: Costume Design or Elementary School Teacher?

I am having a hard time deciding which career path I should pursue. I got my BA in Theatre Arts but am considering going back to school for my Master's in Elementary Education for a more secure future and benefits. Costume design would allow me a lot more personal freedom and I really enjoy collaborating with other artists. However, I would probably start out sewing in a costume shop all day for minimum wage, which I have experience doing. I would love to move to California, specifically the LA area, but it is apparently very difficult to find a teaching job there, whereas it would probably be relatively easy to find something in the entertainment industry. The only problem is that I would barely be able to pay the bills in California, working minimum wage. (I was thinking I could also start a side business on Etsy to help with the bills.) I enjoy kids in small doses, but am not sure if I could handle all day disciplining them or the responsibilities of teaching a full class of students, as well as dealing with administrators, parents, testing standards, etc. I guess if I chose costume design, I would be choosing the "starving artist" route, whereas teaching would give me a higher income and more stability (however, the job might be really stressful if I can only find a job in a poor area, or if I have to start out substitute teaching).

Ha, went through the same thing with my old friends a while back...in a few months it won't be a big deal anymore. Do you live in the mountains? Cuz, if so, there must be trails around. GO HIKING! Hiking by yourself can actually be quite peaceful. You could start a channel on youtube and make funny videos or something. Are there any places in walking distance that you could try and get a job at? This may sound lame, but spend time with your fam. You're gonna miss them when you leave for college. Do get clothes for college, but not too many, because dorms are very small. You won't really have room for a ton of clothes anyway. Go swimming maybe. If there is anywhere to go near where you live, go fishing. Walk around town with a video camera, and film people doing weird stuff, or make a documentary of life with your family. You could make a funny short film reenacting the fight you had with your friends and then enter it into a short films contest or something. In college, there is a lot of partying. Idk if you are into that stuff, but just go to the parties. You don't have to drink, I guarantee you will not be the only one there not drinking, and even if you are, it's fun to watch people make fools of themselves. It is a good way to put yourself out there, and meet new people. Plus, most clubs have one night a week where they let 18 year olds and up in, I'm guessing your college friends will want to go. learn to dance if you don't already know how. There are videos on youtube you can watch that will teach you. But don't do that bump and grind stuff. I hope this was helpful!

Should we save and turn Gila National Forest into protected land, especially from ranchers and hunters?

This is one of the oldest and biggest public land in the United States. Could you imagine if it was a park that protected all of its historical & endangered natural species? For example, some predators such as jaguar, cougar, Mexican wolf, brown bear, bald eagle, black bear, ocelot, bobcat and coyote all belong here before being wiped out for cattle industry (sadly today, they can graze all year round which makes unbalance land for nature). Non predators such as Pronghorn, buffalo, trout, whooping crane, spotted owl, parrot, desert bighorn, collared peccary and reintroducing wild llama are some of many species that should still roam this vast land for everyone to appreciate, enjoy and respect. This proposed protected land would eventually be transformed back to its most beautiful state as once before. Tourism would blossom because it would attract so many people around the world like African & India's Safari. Importantly, tourism will rise tremendously & will create jobs for the locals, especially for those affected by reduction of cattle industry in that area. Why it is so important to save that area and its wildlife, because it has its own unique wildlife like no other in the world and it would hold over 5 large predators in one area similar to African wildlife.This project would be much bigger and more profitable then Yellowstone park because due to weather it can be open all year round, this would be bigger than Yellowstone NP accomplishment. Another reason, Gila Park will be the only park in North America with so many large predators to support and maintain a healthy ecosystem like Africa. This is the only place in North America where such diversity is possible.

Tons of small country towns abound in the U.S. Parks and caves , fishing , swimings , camping , amusement parks. Just stay away from the typical tourist traps. Book a stay on a ranch , go see an aviation museum . Get a welcome packet sent to you from each states' tourism sites online. Rent a car and drive to Canada and see the Falls. Look at the USA not as a whole , judge it State by State. There are many different cultures in the U.S., read up on the good ones. Sri Lanka would be my pick , I would not feel safe in the others. I suggest these days the best way to travel is with a group and stay with a guide.

It all starts around wintertime. My eighth grade year, hers too. The place was a camp that our whole grade travels to before school year is over and kids depart for high school. I never really thought about how love worked or about how hormones related to growing up. But talk about changing from kid to boy, which is not a big change but believe me... This was dramatic. I mean I had always heard of the changes that are supposed to happen in our body as we grow in the middle school experience... But not once had I seen a change in my personal self. Now when I say I believe that some people were meant to be together, I mean it because when I heard this laugh. It brought me a smile. I heard the smile, and as a deer eating grass looks up because of a disturbance, my head jerked up and looked straight at this girl being talked upon by her group. Time stopped in my life. My brain was working hard, working hard and long to try and open a gap in my heart. Ya know, going through middle school, and being so self conscious about how attractive you might be... Well in all I felt too good. So from then on, my goal was to marry this woman or as in my mind, "this drug". I hate Lady Gaga but if I were with Hayley, her love would be my drug. A couple minutes passed and my brain, being confident enough to talk to this goddess. And what do ya know? She talked back, now talk about young love! Well, I am. I ended up "dating" Hayley for about two weeks and then, the texts and phone calls became shorter and the rumors started getting violent. Not physically but emotionally. People were saying that this guy named Adam liked her. ME, being a pathetic loser. ADAM, being a popular fascist jerk. They dated. I don't exactly remember how Hayley brought the break-up about, but it was harsh. In middle school too. I forgive Hayley on all levels, even Wiz Khalifa's levels. No matter what I say about her choice to "dump" me and "gain" Adam, it was a choice that girls like to do. They test out all types of guys before they settle at a type they like. Anyway, the way our socialistic schools are set up, the zoning is way off. She went to a different high school than me. Now I had not forgiven her of the Adam thing yet, so I was a ignorant of the fact she was existing. But come the wintery season of Football, come our schools rival game. Her High School vs My High School! And guess who was there. Hayley! Yes, she was there and I talked to her. Only to find out I was ignoring the fact I was shy. I was not shy until Freshman year. I had been hiding since middle school because of her. I lost touch with her and it fell down again. But I had not forgotten. Come this year, over summer. I called her and said stuff I should have probably not said. We met and talked for the rest of the day, till about midnight. I went home in silence, disbelief, awe, shock, and happiness.From then on, I have been texting her. I am always sweet to her to make sure she is doing fine. Recently some guy took advantage of how nice she was and almost took gods best gift from her. She said he was an ***, and it broke my heart. Why in gods name would anybody be so cruel to someone so caring and loving? I love her, but I don't know if she likes me or loves me.
