Would you agree my friend is "odd"?

My friend and I were walking through town this morning and he mentioned the weather report said it would not rain today so I said "If God wants it to rain, it will not matter what the weather report says." My friend said "Do you believe God actually sits at a computer and types in 'Rain' and it starts to rain'?" I said, "Yeah..." I was speaking metaphorically, thinking he knew I was using a figure of speech. But he looked at me strange and said "What are you...nuts?" I then told him it was merely figurative and a figure of speech so then he understood. But, would you agree he was a bit strange for thinking I actually thought that? (I was laughing... it was funny as hell to me.)
