Why does it take so long for the iPad 2 to ship?!?

I ordered an iPad 2 on June 11th, and on apple's website, it says that it won't come until July 7th! Why does it take almost a month to assemble the thing and ship it to my house? I did get it engraved but it shouldn't take that long to engrave it. I got the 32gb wifi+3g (at&t), so does it take longer because I got the 3g model? I will be gone on vacation before it arrives at my house.
